The Infinity Series

Time is eternal, infinite. A timepiece inspires the wearer to contemplate his life and potential.

The Infinity Series purpose is to inspire its wearer to reach their potential.. To pursue perfection.

The second hand reminds the wearer that within the sub-seconds is a glimpse into the infinite.

The Infinity Series is the first of its kind.. A multi-level engine-turned dial with a never before seen and extremely difficult pattern, the Infinity Weave.

The complex Guilloche or Engine-turning of the dial is completely done by hand, in California, using the same techniques masters of the trade have utilized for centuries, A.L. Breguet, Derek Pratt , George Daniels, and Roger Smith.

See the links below to learn more about J.N. Shapiro’s pursuit of California watchmaking perfection.

The Dial

The Infinity Series dial is simple and classic in appearance, yet extremely complex in creation.

Thousands of operations and hundreds of hours go into each dial.

The dial is composed of seven different parts, each individually machined.

Every surface is engine-turned or circular grained by hand.

There are four engine-turned patterns on the dial. The barley corn, created on the rose engine machine, is outside the chapter ring. The Circular ratchet pattern separating the minutes and hours was also created on the rose engine machine.

On the inside of the chapter ring is the basketweave. It is one of the most difficult engine-turning patterns, and takes considerable practice and patience to get the pattern perfectly square.

Finally is the Infinity weave which can be read about here.

This dial features a solid 18k rose gold seconds ring and name plate. Everything else is made from silver.

The engine-turned sections have been frosted white using the same techniques A.L.Breguet used two centuries ago.

The Infinity Weave

The Infinity Weave is a brand new engine-turning pattern invented specifically for this series. The basketweave is already one of the most challenging patterns to create on a straight line engine turning machine. The infinity weave is essentially a basketweave within a basketweave.

It takes a week of intense focus and dedication to hand engrave the sub- seconds area.

To create the Infinity Weave Joshua Shapiro had to invent a new patent pending pattern bar. It is something not seen before in horology, and elegantly enhances the dial.

The Process

Thousands of machine operations go into the creation of every watch. The dial, hands, and serial plate are all made in-house, and considerable attention to detail is given to every component.

The engine-turned dial takes the combination of five different machines to produce:

Neuweiler- Engelsberger Straight-Line Engine Turning Machine

Plant Rose- Engine Turning Machine

Schaublin and Levin Lathes

Milling Machines

Fiber Laser Machine

After all machining and engraving is finished the dial is whitening using the Breguet frosting techniques, then lacquered for longevity.
